Today was the last day of our Level 5 Exhibition – Timeless Perspectives at the Eagle Works, Wolverhampton.
We had opened on Thursday with a private view and then yesterday saw a couple of people come and view the exhibition. Would today bring more visitors?
In this final post about the Japan trip in January 2024 I wrap up my thoughts and feelings about the adventure. What I liked about the place, people and other subjects and what I didn’t.

Nearly time to go home, one more day to pack in lots of museums and photography, does it work out as planned? You bet it doesn’t.
Time for the third shoot within the factory, and this time it’s after shutdown, when everyone has left for the Christmas break. I find out that I have the factory in my DNA.
A task on post modernism and also a chance to print some images in the darkroom, after developing a 35 mm film first.
Busy day today with two shrines to visit and a couple of high rise viewing platforms. It was a proper touristy day.
Today was going to be the pre-booked trips to teamLab Planets and Tokyo Skytree, plus whatever else I could fit into it.
today was a trip to Hiroshima on the famous Bullet Train. It was a moving experience, both the train and the city of the first atomic bombing.
This week we were off to London to visit the Photographers’ Gallery for the Daido Moriyama Retrospective and the V&A Photography Centre for a walk around the Energy: Sparks from the Collection.
For my second shoot in the factory I waited for night to fall and then went a wandering with my headlamp and Leica Q2. What did I capture?
The first shoot has been completed and in this post I document my plan and the outcomes. Are any of these images your cup of tea?
This week saw me getting into the colour darkroom once more, this time with some good chemistry in the machine. After this we discussed our essay plans and then the topic of Space.
Busy week this week, first develop a roll of Ilford HP5+, then a tutorial about my practice and lastly a seminar about critical thinking. Fully packed sessions.
Today saw some more pointless colour printing and a trip to the Eagle Works for a look at an exhibition space for our Easter exhibition
A fun packed day in Week Four of Semester 1. Some printing, some washing, some spilling of drinks, a tutorial and a fire alarm evacuation.
Watch something task, I watch lots of photography content on YouTube but could I narrow it down? Yes I could. A mixture of street photography, film photography and talk about methods and practice make this an ideal video to discuss.
First Week and it’s full of seminars, assignments, tasks, information and loads of things that we need to get done in the next academic year.
September ’23 saw the Masters Degree Show take palce at the Wolverhampton Art Gallery, showcasing the work of the graduating students from the Wolverhampton School Of Art. It was great.
