This week sees the whole uni still without computers so it was into the old school colour darkrooms with some negatives. That joined with a tutorial on the Practice module too as prep for the exhibition in April.

Not a usual week at Uni this week, seems like there was a problem with the IT systems. Wonder what it could be?
Nearly time to go home, one more day to pack in lots of museums and photography, does it work out as planned? You bet it doesn’t.
Time for the third shoot within the factory, and this time it’s after shutdown, when everyone has left for the Christmas break. I find out that I have the factory in my DNA.
A task on post modernism and also a chance to print some images in the darkroom, after developing a 35 mm film first.
Busy day today with two shrines to visit and a couple of high rise viewing platforms. It was a proper touristy day.
Today was going to be the pre-booked trips to teamLab Planets and Tokyo Skytree, plus whatever else I could fit into it.
today was a trip to Hiroshima on the famous Bullet Train. It was a moving experience, both the train and the city of the first atomic bombing.
Day two and it was a packed day in my planning phase, slightly undone by jet lag. I still did a lot with the time I had though.
Week 3 and it’s time to scan or print from the negs I made in Japan, followed by a tutorial with Sylvia about the formative feedback for the Artist Library task.
This week we were off to London to visit the Photographers’ Gallery for the Daido Moriyama Retrospective and the V&A Photography Centre for a walk around the Energy: Sparks from the Collection.
For my second shoot in the factory I waited for night to fall and then went a wandering with my headlamp and Leica Q2. What did I capture?

This week we talk about space and how other artists, photographers make use of it in their work. We discuss how it is used, why it works or doesn’t and I find another photographer in Kander who I really enjoy the work of.
Camera Obscura, a simple method of projecting what is outside, into the room using no special optical lenses or anything more than cardboard and tin foil.
This week saw me getting into the colour darkroom once more, this time with some good chemistry in the machine. After this we discussed our essay plans and then the topic of Space.
Busy week this week, first develop a roll of Ilford HP5+, then a tutorial about my practice and lastly a seminar about critical thinking. Fully packed sessions.
A day off from work can only mean one thing, more university work in the form of a day out in Birmingham to visit some exhibitions.
Today saw some more pointless colour printing and a trip to the Eagle Works for a look at an exhibition space for our Easter exhibition
A Practice Review this morning followed by a seminar on preparing for an exhibition. It’s all happening so fast!!
I used a day holiday from work to go and be an assistant at a photo shoot in the Wolverhampton School Of Art for the Black Country Chamber Of Commerce magazine, Prosper.
