If you’ve read any of my posts from the Japan journey in June 2025 you may have read that it was my birthday whilst I was away. I was travelling on my own, solo, and had no family nearby so they all gave me some presents and cards before I boarded the plane for the land of the rising sun.
One of the gifts I received was a small blue bear keyring, based upon the design of a Teddy Bear iI had as a baby, its name was Goth. My daughter had created and made the small bear with her expert sewing skills and left it with me. Before I left for Japan I made sure I took Goth with me to photograph him on a journey around Japan.

This post will host the photos of Goth on his trip around some of the cities of Japan and even a bit of a ride out into the countryside to the North of Kyoto.
It by no means shows everywhere we went but these are the locations when I felt confident enough to glet him out of the Goth-pocket on my bag. If you read the story from his Instagram you’ll see a few little extras too and some context of where some of the images were taken.
Over the course of the two weeks he developed an alcohol issue, where I made it appear that he was drinking. I’m not irresponsible and wouldn’t allow such a young bear to partake in alcoholic beverages so I confiscated each and every one. Which is also weird as I don’t drink back in the UK but there were too many occasions when it was roasting hot and needed to refresh oneself.
